Could tariffs actually be working

TSLA and GOOG released their earnings after the bellā¦
In short, TSLA underperformed but its stock spiked after the news. GOOG overperformed but its stock dropped.
You have to love the markets. š¤·š»
It was a great day overall, with the Nasdaq closing above 21,000 for the first time and the S&P 500 also closing at an all-time high.
Investors were excited about the āmassiveā trade deal with Japan that appears to be a real thing.
We also learned that President Trump will be meeting with EU leaders and that the negotiations are progressing.
I was surprised to come across this quote at CNBC:
āSo far, the tariff strategy Trump is pursuing looks very inspired, generating serious income, resulting in major investments in the U.S. to avoid the tariffs, and has yet to cause the disruptions and inflation that the naysayers said were certain.ā
It was surprising not because itās untrue but because the financial press usually hesitates even to print such glowing praise for the President.
On the ātactical tradingā front, I had two ideas today, both alerted before the bell.
One of them had really solid potential this morning:
That carried on through noon before the stock dipped into the close.
The other idea wound up being a ābase hit.ā It hit a 5% gain at its peak and closed up 3%.
Iām turning my focus now to a small mining stock that recently uplisted to the Nasdaq.
The stock hadnāt quite found its footing until yesterday, and itās now up 28% off that dayās low.
Iām eager to see if that momentum carries through tomorrow, and I hope youāll watch along with me.
