A Strategic Mineral Story Washington Is Watching
In America sits what may be one of the largest known graphite deposits in the world.
That scale has started to attract attention from Washington.
The Department of Defense awarded $37.3 million to support feasibility work tied to the project.
The Export-Import Bank later signaled interest in $1.4 billion in financing for a graphite processing facility connected to the development.
And total federal support tied to the project could reach $2.1 billion.
Graphite may not attract the same attention as gold or lithium.
But if the United States is serious about building domestic supply chains, stories like this may become increasingly difficult to ignore.
