The big news over the weekend was the Trump tariffs, as well as the promised retaliations from Canada, Mexico, and China.

The news actually hit the markets for a second time on Friday afternoon, actually.

If you take a look at what the Administration is saying about the tariffs, they’re clearly intended as leverage to gain foreign-policy concessions.

I don’t expect them to be in place long-term, but with Trump, who knows for sure? 🤷🏻

Ultimately, if you actually look at how much we actually sell to Canada or Mexico, it’s small potatoes for the US economy.

And on a long enough timeline, stock prices should reflect earnings, so that’s really where our focus should be.

Last week was great for earnings drops, and we have some other heavy hitters up to bat this week, so hopefully, that overshadows all the trade-war anxiety (plus, some of that was already priced into the market.)
